Have you ever been so exited to read your new book, but when you try to read it the font is to small? If so here are some ways that you can make your own large print.
-
One idea is you could get a magnifying glass. Trust me that will help.
-
If you can’t find one then you can find any devise with a camera and take a picture and zoom in. It will get the job done.
-
If you can’t find anything then simply go on your computer and type your book in on Bookshare. You can change the font.
Finally you can read your new book without having to squint just so that you can make out the letters. Enjoy it.
How to Skip a Full Login Every Time You Shut Your Laptop
Brody
Grade: 6
Visual Impairment: Optic Nerve Hypoplasia
Tools: CCTV, JAWS on a large laptop
TVI email: jamie.smith@negaresa.org
It’s so annoying when you’re trying to get a document open in class and your computer is being super slow and making you re-open everything. Why can’t it just save everything when I shut the computer lid? Well FYI, there is a way to get around this problem.
How do you do it?
-
If you have a Microsoft laptop, all you have to do is press Windows + L. That locks the screen and when you shut your computer all of your tabs will be saved.
-
I also found out that you can just touch the power button, but don’t hold it down. This does the same thing.
Does anybody know how to do this on a Chromebook??
How to Use Zoom to See the Board
Grade: 6
Visual Impairment: High myopia
Tools: large print, CCTV, monocular, magnifier, electronic magnifier, iPad
TVI email: twilks@naperville203.org
Do you need to see things on the board at school? Of course you do!! Here are some tips you can use.
Ask your teacher to open Zoom.
Ask your teacher for their Zoom link.
Click on the Zoom links to open Zoom.
Click on the blue button that says Join.
Ask your teacher to let you in and ask them to share their screen with you. You should now be able to see what is on your teacher's computer screen. Y
Important tip: When you are on Zoom, you can do these really cool key commands:
Control-search-M will let you magnify your screen.
Control-search-D will also let you magnify your screen, but only the top part of your screen, leaving the bottom part the same.
Warning for Google users: sometimes Zoom will prompt you to log in or sign up. If you get that screen, go to the 9-dotted waffle in the upper right corner of your screen. Click on the waffle and scroll down until you find Zoom. Click on that Zoom button and follow the rest of the instructions to launch Zoom.
Does anyone have a different screen sharing app they like to use?
